Bring your astronomical equipment to the Isle of Wight Observatory for free advice on how to get the best from it. Whether it's a telescope that has been gathering dust in the loft, or advice on how to use your digital camera for astronomical photos, volunteers from Vectis Astronomical Society will be on hand to answer your questions.

If you can spare a couple of hours to help with our upcoming IYA events around the Island, we would be pleased to hear from you. The next few events should be quite large and we really need as many members as possible to attend. Hopefully you can bring you telescope or binoculars along and help us to spread the "astronomy" word..... Please contact Bill or Brian at the observatory on a Thurday or at the monthl ymeetings. |

Yet again details of the venue for our monthly meeting have been misreported. The meeting will be held, as usual, in the Newport Parish Hall and not, as stated elsewhere, at Brading Roman Villa. |

2009 - International Year of Astronomy |

Vectis Astronomical Society is supporting 2009 International Year of Astronomy. We will be holding "public" astronomy events around the Isle of Wight throughout the year and look forward to meeting at least some of you during our travels.
The table below shows the events we have organised so far and will be updated as we add to it. All events are free of charge unless stated. All information is correct at time of publication. Somehow, Sky at Night magazine have listed in their society news that Vectis' next meeting will be by Bob Mizon at Brading Roman Villa, and listed our old web address. This informatin is NOT CORRECT The meeting will be held, as usual, in the Newport Parish Hall and not, as stated elsewhere, at Brading Roman Villa. |
